Mobilities, Capitalism and the Peace Process in Colombia – an ECR workshop from MMB Latin America
Thursday 21 January 2021 at 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
This workshop is an opportunity for postgraduate students and early career researchers at the Universities of Bristol and Bath Spa to present their research in Colombia, set against the backdrop of the country’s ongoing and challenging peace process and focusing on concepts of mobility in this area. Mobility is understood here in a broad sense to include the movement of ideas, money and goods as well as people, and to draw attention to ideas around borders and borderlands. Participants will present work in progress and receive feedback from two commentators to help develop their ongoing research and writing. This event is organised by the MMB Latin America network.
Speakers:
Dr Camila Fuentes Diaz, Bath Spa University – ‘Overcoming identity boundaries through creative language: a small step towards sustainable peace.’
Laura Hankin, University of Bristol – ‘Reintegrating the FARC collective: the fuzzy boundaries of identity and belonging.’
Yesid Paez Cubides, Bath Spa University – ‘Peacebuilding from multiple voices: mobilising understandings of peace through educational spaces.’
Dr Adriana Suarez-Delucchi, with Dr Maria Paula Escobar Tello, University of Bristol – ‘The social organisation of silvopastoral projects in the Colombian Amazon.’
Commentators:
Professor Matthew Brown and Dr Naomi Millner, University of Bristol.
The event will be held on Zoom. If you would like to attend, please register on the Eventbrite page.
