‘Rethinking Migration’ – MMB Online Book Launch

Wednesday 14 May at 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Please join us for an online discussion of our new edited collection, Rethinking Migration: Challenging Borders, Citizenship and Race (Bristol University Press, 2025), which presents a radically interdisciplinary approach to migration and mobilities.

Rethinking Migration explores mobility beyond the human and across time, from the movement of soil in the Middle Ages to contemporary cow passports. It also examines the histories of international borders, how they are expressed in music and film and intertwined with the politics of race and nation. Read together the contributions demonstrate that borders are not only legal constructions but are endlessly socially and imaginatively in the making. Read more about the book, and purchase or download it for free, here.

At the online launch we will be hearing commentaries on the book from key migration researchers across the world – Carolin Overhoff Ferreira, Leah Vosko and Biao Xiang – as well as from the volume’s editor Bridget Anderson and two of the authors.
