IMISCOE

MMB are official members of  IMISCOE, Europe’s largest network of scholars in the area of migration and integration. The network involves 55 member institutes and over 1000 scholars from all over Europe.

IMISCOE runs an Annual Conference which was planned for Luxembourg in 2020 but this has been postponed until 2021. Meanwhile, a virtual IMISCOE conference was held on 1st and 2nd July 2020.

IMISCOE Institutional Membership Benefits we can still access during lockdown:

  • Full waiver of Open Access publishing for articles in Comparative Migration Studies (at least one author must be at University of Bristol)
  • 50% fee waiver and editing support for Open Access publishing in the IMISCOE book series
  • Full waiver of Open Access fee for publishing in the IMISCOE short book series
  • IMISCOE newsletter,  bulletin and social media: we can submit items on our own news, research activities, achievements etc.
  • Annual PhD dissertation prize, with Open Access publication in IMISCOE book series
  • Free access to all IMISCOE book series books, and Comparative Migration Studies articles (including non-open access books published since 2014). They get a lot of reads/downloads for their OA books.
  • Participation on IMISCOE boards and committees

Other benefits include:

  • Opportunity to organise and receive subsidies for IMISCOE events (e.g. Annual conferences, Summer/Winter schools etc).
  • Our phd students receive discounts on IMISCOE training activities including summer and winter schools
  • Seed funding for IMISCOE research activities and groups
  • There are also more particular opportunities advertised from time to time (e.g. recent PhD training opportunities).

  • Sign up for the IMISCOE newsletter
  • Sign up for the IMISCOE PhD network newsletter (PhD students and supervisors)
  • Create a profile on the Migration Research Hub
  • Follow IMISCOE Facebook and Twitter and have a look at recent posts to see if there are any opportunities of interest.
  • Have a new project or news item you’d like to publicise through the IMISCOE newsletter and social media? Send a copy-ready paragraph (with web link for more info ) to K Charsley (katharine.charsley@bristol.ac.uk)
  • Writing an article and want it to be Open Access? Consider submitting to Comparative Migration Studies.
  • Writing a (full length or short) book manuscript and want it to be Open Access? Consider submitting to the IMISCOE book series.
  • Have a PhD student nearing completion of an excellent dissertation on a migration topic? Nominate them for the IMISCOE PhD dissertation prize.
