MMB thinks beyond silos and offers creative spaces to engage with theory, policy and practice, cultivating a supportive, sustainable, and exciting research community. By its nature the study of migration requires an international approach and necessitates international collaboration and partnership.
We support a network of over 225 UoB scholars working on topics related to migration and mobilities across all faculties. We want to capitalise on this diverse pool of expertise and lead international innovation in the field. By growing our strategic, international collaborations we make an important contribution to the University’s ambition to be within the top 50 Universities worldwide.
Aims and Objectives
Our principal aims are to: 1) promote UoB as a global thought leader in interdisciplinary migration and mobilities research and as an innovative, exciting place to work, collaborate and study and 2) deepen international collaborations through ambitious, interdisciplinary research projects and activities.
To achieve these aims we have:
- started strategically focussed work in three previously identified international regions – Latin America, North America and Europe, while continuing to develop our contacts in other regions;
- capitalised on existing partnerships and collaborative research projects, growing connections and conversations around particular activities and funding opportunities;
- facilitated and supported grant applications of all scales.
