Bridging the Gap – Bringing Together Research, Policy and Delivery on Migration. An ACH/MMB seminar
Monday 8 February 2021 at 1:15 pm to 3:15 pm
Migrants and refugees often see enterprise as their route to opportunity. But, in many cases, they are regarded as doing so out of necessity and given low priority by mainstream organisations providing business support. This can lead to greater precarity for those seeking this route. This seminar asks, are we missing an opportunity, both to assist those trying to become autonomous and to stimulate innovation and growth in the wider economy?
Speakers: Ann Singleton (UoB/MMB) and David Jepson (ACH). Ann has published and spoken widely in the areas of asylum and international migration policy and statistics in the UK, the European Union, ECOWAS and at a global level. David has worked in local and regional economic development consultancy in the UK and internationally for more than 25 years. He now works with ACH/Himilo on labour market and economic development opportunities for refugees and migrants.
Chair: Professor Bridget Anderson, Director of MMB, a leading international expert on migration.
