Migrant Workers of Ethnic Minority Labour Force? What’s the Difference, What’s the Same?
Wednesday 1 December 2021 at 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm
*** Postponed due to industrial action ***
A lunchtime symposium bringing together academic experts with a background in sociology, migration studies, law and critical race theory to discuss their research on the experience of migrants and minority ethnic groups in the UK labour market. The symposium is co-hosted by Migration Mobilities Bristol and the Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Citizenship at the University of Bristol.
As researchers we are often siloed in our own disciplines. This symposium is an opportunity to have an interdisciplinary discussion among academics who are interested in the same topic but who come from different research backgrounds. It offers an insight into how colleagues from different faculties and institutes understand and distinguish between the employment experiences of migrants and minority ethnic groups in the UK.
Speakers:
-
- Dr Ebun Joseph (Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies)
- Dr Manoj Dias-Abey (University of Bristol Law School)
- Dr Mariña Fernández-Reino (COMPAS, University of Oxford)
- Prof Nabil Khattab (Doha Institute for Graduate Studies)
The webinar is organised and chaired by Samir Sweida-Metwally.
