The MMB Summer Walk

Saturday 10 September 2022 at 11:30 am to 4:00 pm

A walk and picnic on the banks of the River Severn – a chance to catch up, get to know each other and build the MMB community!

Following the success of last year’s MMB walk we are keen to do it again! Join us for an open-air meet up with other MMB members and a chance to chat as we stroll along the Severn estuary. This is a fabulous wide open space with far-reaching views, a fascinating human and natural history and a wealth of migrating birds to spot. To learn more about the place, read Michael Malay’s evocative MMB blog, ‘Above the mud, the oyster catchers wheel with their sharp cries.’

We will meet at Severn Beach Station at 11.30am. Catch the 10:46 train from Bristol Temple Meads to Severn Beach (or jump on at any station in between). We’ll walk an hour or so north along the Severn Way, under the M5 bridge to the end of the sea wall, where we’ll stop for a picnic. The path here is paved so good for buggies and wheelchairs.

Those who want to go further can explore the countryside behind the Pilning Wetlands. Wear good shoes if you want to do a longer walk or scramble on the beach (it will be low tide).

Friends and families are very welcome. We have no limit on numbers but please register so we know how many people to wait for at the station.

Please bring your own lunch and if the weather’s bad we’ll picnic under the bridge.

Registration via the Eventbrite page here.
